Pramod Varma is currently the Co-Founder & Chief Architect of “Networks for Humanity” (NFH), an international network of labs creating universal technology infrastructure for the AI driven digital economy.
Under NFH, he co-created the Finternet vision—an initiative to build a universal infrastructure that empowers individuals and businesses to unify, verify, and transact their assets seamlessly. He is also the co-creator of Beckn Protocol, a vision for peer-to-peer, agentic native, open networks that enable universal value exchange across the global value chains. Under this vision, he also helped to launch Digital Energy Grid (DEG)—a pioneering initiative for the future of energy networks. Over the past 15 years, he has served as the Chief Architect both formally and informally behind many of India’s most impactful Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiatives, all of which now operate at population scale. These include Aadhaar (India’s digital identity system), UPI (an inclusive fast payment system), eSign (an interoperable digital signature infrastructure), DigiLocker (a digital credentialing and wallet system), AA network (India’s open finance network), and ONDC (a decentralized multi-sectoral commerce network). In addition to the above, he also played a key role in the design and architecture of transformative digital systems across education, healthcare, taxation, agriculture, commerce, transportation, and AI. He advises a range of population-scale digital transformation and AI efforts to countries around the world. He also serves on the advisory boards of several public and private institutions globally and is a regular speaker at leading international conferences. Before 2009, he built his entrepreneurial career spanning two decades, holding various technology leadership roles across the United States and India. He holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, as well as a second Master’s in Applied Mathematics. |
