Meet Anshu Jamsepna
Anshu Jamsenpa, mother of two teenage daughters hailing from Bomdila, a remote border town in Arunachal Pradesh, North East India is a mountaineer and a motivational speaker. Recently she created two world records and one national record in the field of mountaineering –
During the month of May 2014, she scaled three Himalayan peaks (Lobuche 20075 ft., Pokhalde 19343 ft. & Island 20305 ft.) in just 6 days. She has to her credit a total of 13 successful peak summits in just 7 years of her mountaineering career. Her last mountaineering expedition was flagged off by His Holiness The Dalai Lama from Guwahati on 2nd April 2017. After its successful completion, her expedition was flagged in by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 5th June 2017. Immediately after the flag-in programme PM Modi tweeted” Interacted with mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa, who scaled Mount Everest twice in five days. Her passion towards mountaineering is commendable.” AWARDS & RECOGNITION : Young Indian Leader Award 2011: Anshu was conferred the CNN-IBN “Young Indian Leader Award” in New Delhi on 30th June 2011. She received the prestigious award from Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Govt of India. Adventurer of the Year 2011: She was also conferred with the prestigious 'Adventurer of the Year' Award instituted by Adventure Tour Operators Association of India. She received the award from Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir on 12 September 2011 in Srinagar. Woman Achiever of the Year 2011-12 On 2nd June 2012 Anshu Jamsenpa was awarded Woman Achiever of the Year 2011-12 by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in Guwahati. On 31st Jan 2012 Anshu Jamsenpa became the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to be featured in Limca Book of World Records. IVLP Woman & Entrepreneurship Programme, USA 2012-13 His Excellency the US Ambassador Peter Burleigh invited Anshu Jamsenpa for an exclusive Lunch Meeting on 23rd Feb 2012 at Itanagar. The US Consul General Dean Thompson who had accompanied the Ambassador informed her during the meeting that she had been nominated and selected for ‘IVLP USA 2012-13’ programme instituted by the Government of USA with all expenses paid trip to USA. ICC Sports Excellence Award 2013 On 22nd Nov 2013 she was conferred with ICC Sports Excellence Award 2013 by Pawang Singh Gothewar, Union Minister of DoNER at Dibrugarh University Auditorium, Dibrugarh. In the presence of The Ambassador of Indonesia, Consul General of Italy, US Deputy Chief of the Mission, Consul General of France, Singapore High Commissioner, etc. |
