Gautam Bhimani, Indian Cricket Commentator, Gautam Bhimani is a commentator with ESPN-STAR Sports and adds that much needed dash of humour to serious cricket discussions. Gautam has done his Bachelor's in Mass Communication from Missourie State University, U.S.A. He started his professional career in media as a copywriter in JWT- J. Walter Thomson, where he worked for six years. A quiz freak, he took part in the prestigious all-India Brand Equity Quiz and came third. He won a trip to Singapore where he visited prominent personalities from ESPNSTAR SPORTS and that is how his association with the sports channel began.
Raymond Hume, ESPN-Star Cricket Director offered the job with the channel despite him never being on TV before. He started working as a backroom researcher for Harsha Online, a show hosted by renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle. And then when India toured Zimbabwe in 2001, he got his first chance to come in front of the television camera. His light-hearted style of reporting brought a different kind of freshness to the commentary box. Having been rewarded for his idiosyncratic presentation of the game with the Ramnath Goenka Award for excellence in Journalism by the President of India, HE APJ Abdul Kalam, Gautam has seamlessly translated his trademark wit and presence of mind from his television presence to successfully hosting, creating and curating events for multiple brands both in India and overseas. From the lanes of Lucknow to posh Park Lane in London, his assignments transcend genre and Geography. The nature of the events he has hosted includes art and memorabilia auctions, brand launches, press conferences, dealer meets, corporate award ceremonies, offsite conferences, celebrity meet and greets, specialized quizzes on business, sport and fashion and theme parties. Apart from his humour, what sets him apart is his chemistry with co hosts, comfort level with celebrities from the film, sport and corporate world and interaction with sharply contrasting audiences be it preschool kids, rural dealers and distributors, IIM students or the urban Glitterati. Apart from every corner of rural and urban India, he has played host in Sydney, London, Dubai, Vienna, Cape Town, Colombo, Macau, Phuket and Kuala Lumpur. Clients include AT&T, Adidas, Fashion Design Council of India, IIFA, Reliance, Reebok, Airtel, Vodafone, Castrol, McDowell’s, Daikin, ESPN, Force India, Pepsi, Panasonic, HTC Touch, Jet Airways, Levis, Nokia, Maruti Suzuki, Kingfisher, Birla Sun Life, IDBI Federal, Quikr.com and Tourism Australia. He has also hosted stage shows/meet & greets for almost all the IPL franchises between 2008 and 2015. He has been the master of ceremonies at prominent book launches, including Chetan Bhagat’s Three Mistakes Of My Life and Jaswant Singhs Travels In Transoxiana. In 2008, he was specially invited to be the host of the Dhirubhai Ambani Cricket Celebrations in Jamnagar, an event hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Mukesh Ambani. He was a special invitee as well as the on-field host and commentator for the 2010 IIFA Awards Cricket Match with Mandira Bedi, Javed Jaffrey and Chunky Pandey. Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), presented at the last 3 seasons of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. His regular beat includes general, business and sports quizzes for schools, colleges, B-Schools and corporate clients. For all quizzes, he does the complete concept,
research, software enhancements and presentation.
