Srikaanth Viswanathan is a prolific marathon swimmer based out of Bangalore, India. Swimming is his hobby & passion. He was a late entrant to the sport & learnt to swim in 2005 when he was 33. As an amateur swimmer, he nurtured a dream of swimming the iconic English Channel (Atlantic Ocean separating UK and France by 33kms), considered to be the Mt Everest of swimming, for over 10 years.
After multiple relay swims in the English Channel, he eventually conquered the channel as a solo swimmer in 2018, in a stupendous time of 14hrs 7mins. He went on to complete the Catalina Channel (Los Angeles) and Circumnavigation of Manhattan Island (New York) in 2019 which earned him the coveted Triple Crown of Open water swimming, a unique feat accomplished only by very few people around the world. These herculean efforts have earned him a place in the Limca Book of Records for being the oldest Indian to have achieved this feat.
In recognition of his achievements and contributions to the sport, he was conferred with the prestigious Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award by The Hon’ble President of India in Nov’21. This award is the highest national recognition awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of adventure sports in India.
He strongly believes that the limits of our capabilities reside only within the boundaries of our minds and his favorite mantra being “Life begins at the end of our comfort zone”.
He is very passionate about helping others realize their true potential in life. In recognition of his vast experience in the sport, he has been nominated as India’s representative by the Channel Swimming Association (UK) to guide aspiring channel swimmers from India/Asia.
Since then, he has helped many individuals realize their true potential not only in the sport of swimming, but also in their life, in general.
Emboldened by the successes, he has now set his sights on a very ambitious goal of pursuing the Ocean 7 channel swimming challenge - an ultimate endurance swimming challenge spread across different oceans & continents. He strongly believes that no dream is unachievable when it is backed by an undying commitment and hard work. He encourages everyone, young and old alike, to dare to dream big and go after it.
He has been regularly invited in the corporate and academic circles to share his learnings and experiences of his life transforming journey. He was also been invited to talk in TEDx forums.
