Meet Suhel Seth
Suhel Seth is one of India's most admired marketing and management gurus and a highly-regarded columnist. He is the Managing Partner of Counselage India and founder of Equus. [1] He is known for his forthright views and appears regularly on television shows. Suhel has done over 135 plays in English, was voted as the Best Theatre Actor by Khushwant Singh and has been mentioned in the latter's autobiography; Suhel has been a keen debator and is also a film actor having acted in six films under directors such as Mrinal Sen, Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Suhel has written two books: one 'In Your Face' a collection of his columns and the other, Kalighat to Calcutta in co-authorship with Khushwant Singh and R K Laxman.
Suhel Seth is the Managing Partner of Counselage India and founder of Equus. Suhel has several passions: he is a regular speaker at industry meets; is a lecturer at various Indian Institutes of Management. Suhel also writes provocative columns in The Financial Times, London and in Business India, The Hindustan Times and The Indian Express on current affairs and the social landscape of India. Suhel has co-authored two books on Calcutta with Khushwant Singh and R K Laxman. Suhel was also the Keynote Speaker at the Indian Advertising Congress in 1998. Suhel has also been a speaker at all Marketing Summits organised by CII and was the Chairman of the CII Marketing Summits from 2005 to 2010. Suhel was on the global advisory board of British Airways until 2009 and presently sits on the global board of Cavendish and RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London) and on the regional boards of Citibank and Coca Cola. He has addressed the International Executive Committees of companies such as American Express, BMW Foundation and Renault on 'Understanding the Indian Consumer'. Suhel has also addressed the Harvard Business School on Building Brands in India. Suhel has published several papers on 'The changing Indian Consumer' and written extensively on the impact of advertising and its linkages to societal influences such as religion and culture. In February 2002, Suhel's first book 'In your face' was published. More recently, Suhel has been commissioned by Penguin India to write a book which is tentatively titled 'The Indian Mindset': this will be the first Indian marketing book to be published by Penguin India. After completing the book 'Of roots and wings': 50 years of Indian Airlines, Suhel's latest book 'Get to the Top', has been published by Random House India in October 2011. Suhel is an alumnus of the AMP of Harvard Business School as also member of the Harvard Business School Consultants Club and is active on the Delhi theatre scene and has acted in several plays and films (by Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen) as also has represented India at the University of Oxford in Debating. He is also the Founder of both the Calcutta and the Delhi Debating Society and Concern for Delhi. Suhel has also been a Rotary International Scholar as well as the Founder of the Rotaract and Interact Clubs in Calcutta. Suhel is on the Board of Advisors of Deepalaya, the Neemrana Foundation and the Max India Foundation. Suhel has been appointed to the Experts Committee of India's Railway Board and is Brand Advisor to the Indian Railways Minister as also to the Indian Railways Ministry. Suhel served as a Trustee on the India Brand Equity Foundation for six years, appointed by the Government of India. IBEF is the apex body responsible for creating a vibrant Brand India. Suhel is the Chairman of the National Marketing Committee of both CII and FICCI for 2010-11. |
