Tashi & Nungshi Malik - Motivational Speaker - Profile

Nungshi and Tashi populary known as the Everest Twins who at the age of 23 became Guinness World Record holders for the youngest people (and first twins) to complete the Explorers Grand Slam (climbing the world’s seven highest peaks including Everest and skiing to the North and South Poles).

Tashi and Nungshi Malik ( The Everest Twins)  have achieved several global gender iconic milestones. In 2013, barely 21 years old, they became world’s first female twins to scale Mt Everest. What’s more, 'with in just 2 years from that feat they scaled highest peaks in all continents and skied to North and South Poles becoming world’s first siblings and twins, as well as first and only South Asians to complete the ‘Adventurers Grand Slam’. At that time they were also world’s youngest persons to achieve it. They have as many Asian and National records to their credit. They are also world’s first female twins to climb Mt Cook, New Zealand’s tallest peak and a virgin peak at 21000 ft in Indian Himalayas.
 
The twin sisters are highly sought after motivational speakers and have delivered inspirational talks across India and in several countries abroad such as USA, Brazil, Nepal, Chile and New Zealand. They have also delivered TEDx talk in New Delhi. In their Motivational Talks Tashi & Nungshi draw on their experiences to talk about issues of teamwork, risk assessment, self-motivation and tackling overwhelming challenges. The Everest Twins compelling story of risk, adventure and adversity never fails to inspire audiences to achieve their goals.

Most recently, last year (2019) they became the First Indians and South Asians to select and lead Team India in the World’s Toughest Race - Eco Challenge Fiji hosted by adventurer Bear Grylls. It is dubbed as the ‘Olympics of adventure’.
 
Nungshi and Tashi Malik have dedicated their adventure mission to Indian girl child with the motto ‘Gender Equality Now: Fight Female Feticide’. They use their climbing as metaphor for the ‘invisible’ mountains of gender discrimination, exclusion and denial of basic rights that millions of girls in India have to climb daily.

  • In 2016 they were awarded the Leif Erikson Young Explorers Award in Iceland by president Guðni Th. Jóhannesson[24]
  • In Sep 2019 they were recommended by the sports ministry for Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award.[25]
  • They were awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2020.
